FWC's April Hot Sheet for Red Snapper, Grouper, Snook, Bonefish, Tarpon, and Vermilion Snapper

It’s time for some yankin’ and crankin’!

Florida has good reason for proclaiming itself the Fishing Capital of the World. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which regulates the sport, there are about 3 million acres of freshwater lakes and 12,000 miles of streams and rivers filled with fish. Top Florida freshwater fish include bass, white catfish and channel catfish.

The fact that Florida is surrounded by water, providing plenty of saltwater fishing action, also contributes to its claim to the title. Top Florida saltwater fish include blue marlin, cobia and bluefish.

And Florida has plenty of anglers ready to take part in this exciting sport – about 3.1 million, according to the FWC.

If you’re a local, we want to hear from you. Use our fishing forums to let us know where you caught your big fish and what you used to catch your fish. One thing about us Florida fishermen – we all like to talk with other fishermen. It’s how we learn and develop our skills when we take part in this sport.
